Praex CLI, Claude Code, Aider and OpenCode.

Four terminal coding agents, side by side: licence, models, pricing model and platforms. Facts about the other three come from their own docs and repositories; the sources are listed under the table.

The Praex CLI is built on OpenCode. It is a fork of OpenCode, which is MIT licensed, and keeps OpenCode's agent core and its support for many model providers. Praex adds its own work on top: stricter permission checks for destructive commands, an agent loop that carries on when a step stalls, a self-check after headless runs, Remote Control, persistent memory, and optional hosted Praex models. Upstream attribution stays in the repository.
